Before deciding what help should look like, ask who identified the problem and who will decide whether the response is useful. The answer should include the people who live with its consequences.
What happens after the first moment?

What are we willing to learn?
Helping can require changing our assumptions. We want to explore experiences honestly, including uncertainty and the lessons people discover along the way.
